Are there any great places to go stargazing in Fort Collins?

Close to town but away from the city lights?

It is best to get away from town to star gaze. The city lights dilute the amount of stars you can see. A good place to go is out on the Pawnee Grass lands East of town. One of my favorite places is out by Pawnee Buttes. You are away from any city lights and the sky is clear with a 360 degree view. If you are into photography at night and star trails the Buttes make a great foreground subject with the star trails circling around it.

http://www.stargazerobservatory.com/ is a great local neighborhood place located in Observatory Village that offers indoor star gazing.... but my personal favorite is up at Lake Dowdy close to Red Feather Lakes which is located 50 minutes just outside of Ft. Collins well worth the drive!
