I'm looking for kid-friendly, non-chain restaurant options in and around Cortlandt.

How about Kathleens Tea Room? Located in the historic section of Peekskill, this little spot actually offers "Princess BirthdayTea Parties."

The first place that came to mind is the Piazza Roma in the Cortlandt Town Center complex. It is standard Italian fare in a kid-friendly setting. There is also Little Sorrento on 202 which is a popular pizza place. Thyme and Juliana's are options for a more special evening out - although they may not be great places for very young kids.
