Is Colorado Springs a good city for singles?

My experience has been that Springs feels a little more family-oriented, in spite of all the colleges. I have never had many single friends who felt particularly at home there, but maybe they were just in the wrong neighborhoods. Are there any areas in particular that are good for young adults just starting out on their own?

Although it is definitely a family oriented place in many areas, my niece lives there and loves it. She's 21 and has a lot of friends, although they do come to Denver to go out sometimes. I would also think there would be tons of singles due to the proximity of the Air Force Academy. Most of the cadets are under 22 or 23 years old I believe.
