Are there any places to avoid in Colorado Springs?

To the best of my knowledge no. I have a lot of relatives who live down there and have never noticed a problem. The further north you go, the nicer it gets, but I think this just has to do with the fact there is more new housing and development so most of it just looks new and clean. I think you're right in saying overall the Springs is a pretty safe place.
