Is the public transportation from Clinton (Hells Kitchen) in New York City ok?

Anything from 8th Ave and East, the public transport is quite good. Anything West of 8th and you'll have a bit of a hike to the train but it's not awful by any stretch. Almost every train line in the city runs through Times Square. And, both the Red, Blue and Orange lines run directly through Hell's Kitchen.
