How walkable is the Chatham neighborhood?

Can I walk to shops, parks, restaurants etc?

Well I live at 83 and Ellis and there is no close proximity bus line, 3-4 blocks to Cottage or 3-4 blocks to 87 or 79th Street. Somehow we're like in a dark hole with no close public transportation. I wonder how our Seniors handle this?

Chatham is walkable, but stuff there tends to be a little bit more spread out that more crowded/trendy areas.
