If you enjoy hiking, visit "Anthony's Nose." A short trip from Buchanan, this hike will reward you with panoramic views of the Bear Mountain Bridge. The terrain can be rocky and the hike, depending on short cuts, is several miles long.

Take your kids to Blue Mountain Reservation in Peekskill and spend the day outdoors. You can also take them to Croton Point Park in nearby Croton-on-the-Hudson, which is shortly past the train station (you won't have to pay a toll most days to enter, usually only if there's an event). Take them to visit Bear Mountain State Park in Stoney Point, with lots of trails---and there's even an ice-skating rink in the winter, where you'll create lots of fun family memories that will stay with you for years to come.
