The Town of Beekman is run by an elected Supervisor and four-member Town Board, which meet publicly the first and third Wednesday of each month. As with most small towns, it also has a Planning and Zoning Board, as well as various Committees, which are all appointed by the Supervisor and meet regularly as well. The Town Clerk, Assessor, Comptroller, Highway Superintendent, and Building and Zoning Enforcement Officer all report to the Town Supervisor. It is an efficient way to run a small town, although problems can arise when there are differences of opinion between the elected officials and groups of residents, usually over how much development is appropriate for the area.
