Is there a lot of crime in Beacon?

I don't know that I'd say a lot, but there's more of it than in some other less-populated areas of Dutchess County. From the 2010 crime statistics, the rape and assault risks in Beacon are actually a little above the New York state average, but are still a little under the national average. Of these, assault is the most likely crime, coming in just below the US average.

If you take all the statistics together, there is less crime here than the national average, but it's definitely more than somewhere in the eastern part of the county, say Pawling or Dover.
