Get to Know Astoria's Famous Steinway St

If you like to see Greek cuisine, Mexican lucha libre gear and Barzilian bikinis, you need to visit Steinway St. If you know of any stores I forgot to mention that exists on Steinway St, list them.

1. Get a sugar buzz at Laziza Pastries located at 25-78 Steinway St between 25th and 28th Aves. They have tremendous tasting pistachio-flecked, honey-drenched desserts. The name Laziza means "delicious." You can call for more info. 718-777-7676.
2. The next place on your list would be Naseem Meat Market and Grocery, located at 25-65 Steinway St between 25th and 28th Aves. They provide a collection of ornate hookahs, that are shipped directly Syria. You can call them for more info. 718-777-7032.
3. One block away, Aguilar Records, located at 28-57 Steinway St between 35th and 36th Aves., is an easy-to-miss storefront that you definitely don’t want to miss. If you like the sound of wailing musica norteña Aguilar is for you. They also sell lucha libre wrestling gear, as well as bracelets of the saints (Virgin Guadalupe) and Mexican fútbol jerseys (like the Guadalajara Chivas). You can reach them at 646-573-1403.

@hhusted I have been as well and actually had lunch at the fascinating Mombar restaurant located in the 'Little Egypt' section of Steinway Street.

@hhusted I loved it, the afternoon that I went the restaurant was quite empty (I think it was around 4pm). We were served by both the Ali brothers who actually own the restaurant. We had a variety of mezze and some kind of Egyptian meat dish. After the meal the older Ali brother actually came with us to an Egyptian supermarket to buy the spice known as Zatar which is a Middle Eastern blend of spices like thyme, sumac etc, Zatar tastes heavenly when it is mixed with olive oil and toasted sesame seeds. The mixture is usually spread on Pita and baked ..its absolutely delightful..its not spicy/pungent but in fact quite lemony.. I think you will like it .. all of that area on Steinway St was full of Egyptian bakeries, cafes and supermarkets. I in fact do want to visit again...hopefully when the weather turns..
