Bloomberg now takes on Pension reform

Bloomberg in his latest State of the City address outlines pension reform and suggests teachers be judged on performance and not on the length of their service as he goes on to say that older, longer serving teachers should give give way to younger, newer and thus cheaper teachers. Looks like experience is not going be valued in the teaching profession as well , instead of rooting out inefficiency and wastage the mayor wants to take the easy way out to save the city some money. At least that's what I seem to think.. thoughts?

That's great. My girlfriend wanted to get back into the school system after a few years layoff. Now, I don't think she'll have a chance.

@hhusted I have a cousin who lives in Boston and is a maths teacher ..she used to feel very secure about her job don't know if she feels the same today bet all these changes in the NYC education will spread elsewhere too.

@Uptowngirl: Maybe. Maybe not. NYC is doing this because they are having very severe financial trouble. The only state I have heard about that is in bad economic shape is California. All the other states seem to be doing okay.
