"I love this street"

Patchin Place is a tiny, gated cul-de-sac in the village. In the early 20th century, a lot of artists moved into Patchin Place because it offered quiet and seclusion from all of the bustle of the bohemian outside village streets. All of the buildings are rowhouses and the street is so cute. It is still cobble stoned and the original gas lamp (one of only two left in New York) remains on the street. And, it still gives off light (although it's powered by electricity now). EE Cummings lived on Patchin Place for many years and there is a plaque outside of his old door commemorating his inhabitance.
Patchin Place's proximity to all of the hullaballoo of the Village makes it an ideal street because it, in itself, is quite secluded and peaceful -- and this is such a rarity in New York city.
Unfortunately, most of the rowhouses are no longer residences, but psychotherapy offices. . . for some bizarre reason. Patchin Place has been referred to as "Therapy Row" for about the last decade. And, it's such a waste because this is one of the coolest locales in all of the city.
