I-- 75, Downtown

Interstate 85 has always been a serviceable highway in the Atlanta area. If you live north of the City and commute, traffic can be a nightmare. Otherwise, it is very easy to use Interstate 85 to access the northeastern and southern suburbs of Atlanta (or to zoom through the city itself). In fact, you can take Interstate 85 all the way to Richmond, Virginia and all the way south to the ocean. One new concern: increased police presence. In January, a new super speeder law went into effect that dramatically increases the cost of speeding tickets. I believe that the police are going to be enforcing speeding much more since the financial benefit has increased. Be very careful!

Interstate 85 runs concurrent with Interstate 75 until you get out of Atlanta. You can use I-85 to go from Atlanta to Greenville, South Carolina. The road has some really rough spots and could use some road work. You have to watch the speed limit because unlike most interstates it goes from 55 to 65 to 45 sporadically.

Interstate 75 is one of the main roads coming in to and going out of Atlanta. The traffic is very congested all of the time and there is always road work and construction going on which causes very bad traffic jams. The one good thing about Interstate 75 is that it will get to just about anywhere is Atlanta. It is really your typical Interstate.
