Doyers St, Chinatown

Doyers St is a short street in Chinatown. It runs from Pell St to Division St. I found it one of my first days in New York, when I was randomly walking around Chinatown. This is my favorite street in Chinatown. It makes you feel as if you entered a quiet town street. There is also a good Vietnamese restaurant right there.

Doyers Street is a well hidden secret in New York City. Unless you are doing there you'd probably never know it even existed. Nothing of note is really located on the street. It sort of twists around in a strange curve and most who are familiar with the NYC grid will be pretty weary of a street like this. All in all it has nothing special on it. It's a number of salons and other service type stores clustered together. Many of the signs are in both English and Chinese and you can feel the Asian influence in the area but it's not a must see street.

Doyers St is quite the unusual st. Besides being the most curvy street that I know of in New York, it is host to numerous Asian barber shops (why did they cluster on this one street) as well as a post office which for most would be impossible to find. Check it out if you are down there.
