Is Chinatown in New York City a good place to live for singles?

Yes and no. The rent is definitely cheaper so the demographic tends to be young. But, there's not a lot in the way of nightlife and bars directly outside your door if you're living in Chinatown. The good news is that it's starting to pick up and Chinatown is right on the border of both Lower East Side and Soho -- both of which are very big in nightlife. I've walked to LES countless times to eat and drink and I'm coming from the West Village. So, walking up there from Chinatown is a piece of cake. You can be there in 5-10 minutes no sweat.
