"Great vibe found in the middle of urban sprawl!"

As a suburb of St Louis, MO, St Charles (and surrounding) is filled with cookie cutter houses and no-personality neighborhoods. Not so with Old/Mid Town. I've lived on Monroe for the last 2 years and on Main Street for the previous 2. I love the area! Monroe is much quieter and quaint, but is only a few blocks walk to the restaurants, coffeehouses, shops, and festivals found on Main and in Frontier Park.

The Park and Riverfront is great for adults and kids (I am both...) to run around, enjoy the outdoors, or bike the Katy Trail. Often you'll find weekend activities going on in the park, especially in the summer. There are a few big events, including the July 4 celebration, and always nice to not fight traffic and be able to quickly walk to the center of it all!

The houses around Monroe are filled with character, and many have historical designation. No two are alike! This is in stark contrast with other neighborhoods in St Charles. And while most are older homes, many have been updated and remodeled as the area becomes more popular with those tired of the typical housing options. Midtown remains in demand as people want a small town feel close to big city access.

In the surrounding area, there are countless restaurants, shops, bars/pubs to fill time. There is a hospital and medical center a few blocks away, close police and fire stations, and local government buildings are all very close to the neighborhood. I have no experience with the schools in the area (I have no kids). I have found no drawbacks or deficiencies with ultilities and services available.

Finally, while you could buy a bigger and newer house for the price tag, you wont be able to buy the local vibe, ammenities, and close access to everything. If you want some character and personality in the place you live, and dont want to drive everywhere you go, Monroe Street might be for you.
