Big City Appeal with Home town feel

Great town to live in. Winters can be very cold but Spring, Summer and Fall are wonderful. Plenty of things to do from night life to museums to shopping. Something for everyone. I have lived in smaller towns and NYC. Chicago is a great compromise for both.

I lived there many years ago and have visited recently. Many homes are being taken care of beautifully, but some are in terrible disrepair. Additionally the neighborhood in general has a dreadful crime rate and is not really all that safe for anyone day or night. Great transportation with city buses...

Quiet, neighborhoody feel. Excellent independent grocery two blocks away. Several thai restaurants. Bus very close but EL a bit of a walk. Bike ride to lake.

I'd say as a freshman, this location was okay.
The soon to be Rochford St would be here for JST the residence dorm at UIC.
Just be careful, use common sense. It's a good place to live.

This is the street I grew up on, for the first 8 years of my life. I went to elementary school at St. Et, and for a kid and a family it's perfect. It's fun, has alot accesible for fun and daily living needs (e.g. laundry 1 block away; restaurants, stores, park, a beach just a 20 minutes by foot, etc...

Lots of family-friendly neighbors will attract anyone to this street. However, high-traffic, frequently clogged sewer drains, and some crime nearby make this place not one of the best.

We moved here because the apartment we found offered fantastic rent for what we were getting, and it wasn't run down like some of the others we'd seen in other parts of the city. The apartment is fantastic, and I love it to death. However, there's not much going on around the neighborhood otherwise....
