"A major street, gets you where you need to go, and not too shady"
By virtue of being a main street, it's kept fairly un-shady. There are far more dangerous places in Detroit that you could be. Where it intersects with Conant Street there's a fun bar and jazz cafe called Mandy's, and of course Buddy's Rendevous Pizza, which is one of the best pizza joints I've ever eaten in , maybe second only to Rockit's in Bloomington, IN. It's not really the kind of street you go walking around on, more of a driving strip. It's kept pretty well-lit at night and I've never really felt at risk there after I've parked my car, but I have lived in more dangerous places so maybe I'm jaded. It intersects with a bunch of little side streets and neighborhoods.
