Are many homes in Boulder equipped with solar?

More and more people are adding Solar to their homes these days -- most for the idea of reducing their carbon footprint. It's hard for most people to justify the cash outlay and ROI, but the more that solar is used, the more affordable it will become in the future (think personal computers). There are a few companies that will "rent your roof" -- they will install the solar on your roof, charge you a little less than what you were paying, and keep the profit. You can like the idea or not, but it is helping the overall situation.

Yes many are, however some of the federal tax credits were abolished making less people interested in converting. The tech will get a lot better over time, like instead of bulky panels it will be part of your roof or a film on windows. I had two companies look at my house with both saying too many trees and shade to be effective. Not going to cut them down so I will not have solar. Have a friend that has it, drives a whole electric fleet of cars and gets a rebate check from xcel for putting power back into the grid. That would be nice to get a check back from the power company!!

I was looking on the city of Boulder website and it reads that Boulder now has "one of the highest per capita PV [photovoltaic or PV] rates in the country." But to estimate the percentage of homes that use solar power I couldn't say...maybe Tom can estimate?

no not really, you see solar panels in Boulder if you look for them but not 1 in 10. Now I will start looking more:)
