"Not so Great Inwood"

Located North of Loop 610 and between Hwy 290 and 249-Tomball Parkway, is the middle class neighborhood of Greater Inwood. Main streets found in the area are West Little York, Antoine Drive, and Victory Dr. There are a variety of subdivisions and apartment complexes throughout the area. Subdivisions here include Inwood North and Oaks of Inwood. Real Estate here is affordable, and apartment lease prices are very reasonable, since the area is on the dated side.

Crime in the area has increased due to the rise in residents after Hurricane Katrina evacuees fled to the Houston area. Most of the crime associated with Greater Inwood is theft and property related. If you have children in grade school, they will be zoned to Aldine ISD, or you can opt for private school. Since Greater Inwood is located on the North side of Houston, your commute to a job in the Galleria area or Downtown will be higher than others due to traffic. The area overall is fair at best, and I wouldn’t personally choose to live here, as there are many other better options in the Houston area which are homier and more convenient.

"Greater Inwood, Houston"

Greater Inwood is a fine neighborhood offering in Houston. This location has history that dates back to the beginning of the city. It was once a Native American hunting ground. The appearance of this neighborhood is quaint and homey. It is a part of the Inwood Forest Community along with many other neighborhoods. There are a number of major roadways accessible to Great Inwood. These include the North 610 Loop, Interstate Highway 45, State Highway 290, and the North Freeway. Some of the busiest streets in this area are also some of the longest. These streets include Antoine Drive, Victory Drive, and Bingle Road.

Nearby communities like Acres Home, Independence Heights and Hidden Valley add charm to this area. Although Greater Inwood is a dated neighborhood, it still has a lot to offer exiting residents. This is also a great consideration for first time home buyers. There are terrific apartment complexes to choose from in this area as well. The neighborhood is a distance from some of the popular Houston destination. This is a great benefit to those who want to be outside of the city limits. Greater Inwood is approximately thirty minutes from downtown, uptown, and Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Diana Cabrera Does it flood in the area? i notice a creek is close by?

laceyc
laceyc Diana Cabrera: most of the houses on the east side of Antoine in the Inwood Forest neighborhood did NOT flood, though a few houses to the west of Antoine did. In 2008, the bayous were widened and the FEMA maps (finally) redrawn; the flood plains have changed and there is MUCH less flooding in Greater Inwood, particularly east of Antoine.
