"You can get a great view of the Old North Church!"
Now this is considered the North End Little Italy District of Boston. Despite all the Italian Restaurants within walking distance, Mike's Pastry is a welcome respite. It is a few blocks over on Hanover and makes the walk so worth it. There is traffic, constantly for those that say that this is a nice quiet neighborhood. What?!? I really wouldn't recommend for children - in terms of parks, recreational outside activities. But for the one that loves history? This is the place to be! There's the Paul Revere House, great cemetaries and marketplaces.

"the quieter part of town"
Salem Street is a quieter part of the main town. The majority of the restaurants and shops are nearby this street. There are a couple of nightclubs, and bars nearby. Salem Street gets excellent cell phone, internet and cable reception also. There is a hospital nearby, as well as a couple of parks, and schools and day care. The traffic is good on this street on this part of town. a couple streets over is where most of the cars travel. The neighborhood on the street is very friendly. I can't really find much to complain about boston though. I think it is great for anyone, couples, older people, or families. I mean i think it would even be highly memorable to a person on a buisness trip.

"I liked it"
Whatever people say about this street being full of shops not so people friendly and stuff like that(Well i heard that when i was about to visit the place i don't know why),But I liked the street overall,Being located almost at the center,Had some great restaurants but we weren't able to check them but seeing the crowd over there one could easily tell the popularity of these restaurants.

"Salem St: the other, quieter Hanover St."
Salem Street runs parallel to Hanover Street in the North End (well, as parallel as any streets run in the North End!). It has a variety of great restaurants and other businesses -- slick and not-so-slick restaurants, a True Value hardware store, butcher shop, salumerias, pizza places, the fabulous Dairy Fresh Candies... I could go on. Next time you visit the North End, cut over a block from Hanover Street and check out Salem Street -- you'll be glad you did.
