Public transportation from Mound Davidson Manor in San Francisco is actually pretty good. You can take the MUNI line 23 on Monterey to the Glen Park BART station and then be virtually any where in the Bay Area in about a half hour. Or you can go up the West Portal station and take light rail into the city.
