Like a lot of neighborhoods in San Francisco, Mission Dolores has tons of public transportation options, from the nearby BART station on 16th to the MUNI lines that will take up into financial districts. You definitely do not need a car here. (In fact, parking is such a hassle a lot people park their cars at a friend of family member's house in the burbs and leave it there.)
