Grab your grandkids and head out to Manhattan Beach. Treat them to an ice cream and enjoy the pier. They will have fun! Or Take the Catalina Express from Long Beach and visit Catalina. It's not exactly LA but it's not too far and the kids love the trip.
Enjoy! In Palos Verdes is Whale watching Point Vincent!

Don't forget...The Rose Parade, Disneyland, a campfire at Dockweiler Beach, whale watching off of Catalina Island, a live taping of a Disney or Nick Show.

I do not have grandkids...but...you can't lose with the Los Angeles Zoo, Universal, events held for kids at The Americana in Glendale, and the Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel.
