Lincoln Square is a very unique Chicago neighborhood in regards to its history and German influence. If you are looking at similar areas with an abundance of independent stores fronts, restaurants, and close proximity to Public Transportation, The Southport Corridor, Roscoe Village, Armitage, and Andersonville are great options.

North Center, Roscoe Village, Andersonville, Parts of Wicker Park, Southport in Lakeview, some parts of Logan Square.
Uptown is NOT like LS...and pockets of uptown can be extremely dangerous. I lived on the east side of uptown and I will NEVER do that again, very unsafe.

Nearby neighborhoods are going to be very similar to Lincoln Square, as the North side of Chicago is a lot different than the South Side. I think Uptown, Albany Park and North Center are all pretty similar. They're safe and at similar economic levels.

North Center, which is just to the south, is pretty similar. I also think certain parts of Roscoe Village and Lakeview are a lot like Lincoln Square.
