Moving to Houston for a job at LBJ Hospital

I'm moving from Tampa to start my OB/GYN residency. What areas are safe/affordable within a 15-20 min drive to LBJ?

Hi Allie,

There are a number of areas within a 20 minute commute that may interest you. A few to look at are The Heights, Garden Oaks, Oak Forest, Independence Heights and more. It will depend on if you plan to purchase or plan to lease and what you are looking for in a home or lease property and how much your budget will allow. JaymeC Cross independence heights off your list now! I'm a nurse at LBJ high risk/ NICU. I lived in oak forest for years. It's still affordable but increasing quickly. Older homes 50-60s with a community feel mostly made up of old timers and young professionals and new families. Great neighborhood hang out keep popping up- craft beer bars, wineries, and eateries. I lived there as a single white female and felt safe. However, crime happens- it's a big city.

MalikS JaymeC, don't understand the "single white female" part, what difference will it make if you were a single Asian female or black or Hispanic???
