Flatiron is one of the easiest neighborhoods to get in and out of. The yellow line (NQRW) stops at 23rd and 27th, the Blue Line (ACE) picks up just over at 8th, the Red line at 7th and Union Square (which has the yellow, orange, green and L train) is about a 5 minute walk from most Flatiron streets. You can also take the bus from countless places if you're going cross town but they're slow as all get out so most people don't.
