"Convenient, with great breakfasts! ;)"

Until recently I worked in this area. The name Scarritt-Peabody looks like one that StreetAdvisor made up, but it’s as good a name as any. The Scaritt Bennett Center and Peabody College are both well-known landmarks—the college more so than Scaritt Bennett—so asking a local for directions to one of those will get you to this neighborhood.

The job I held here is actually relevant to the discussion at hand. I was entry-level management in the Bruegger’s Bagels that rents space on the ground floor of the Wesley Place Apartments at Scarritt Place and 21st. (Those apartments are labelled “Wesley Place Town Homes” on the map.)

Wesley Place is owned by Vanderbilt; unsurprisingly, Vanderbilt students make up the majority of their tenants. Understandably, the bagel bakery gets a brisk business from those tenants: how cool is it to live in a place where you can go downstairs for a bagel and coffee every morning before you head out for work or class?

CVS pharmacy, a beauty salon, and a tanning salon were also on the ground floor when I was working there. (And if I’ve left out anyone; I apologize!)

The drawback? I called Wesley Place when hubby and I were looking to move this time last year. They will rent to anyone, but the price was way out of our range—for the amount they were asking, we could have rented a house in the ‘burbs. There are other apartments in this neighborhood, of course; they look nice, but I would expect similar prices.

On the other hand, most of these places are across the street from Vanderbilt and convenient to the Peabody campus. And those two campuses and the Scarritt Bennett center provide enough trees and lawn space to give someone like me their daily dose of green.

Metro bus routes 7 and 25 go through here, as do a couple of express buses. In addition, Vanderbilt runs various shuttles, for the students and for the Med Center, that have routes through the area.

"Nice Area of Nashville"

An area of Nashville that is often over looked is the Scarritt Peabody neighborhood. The area is located near Vanderbilt University and Demonbreun Street. The area is gorgeous and is home to numerous weddings that take place in Nashville.

The homes and apartments as well as condos of Nashville are located here along the Scarritt Peabody area. The Peabody College is a good school that is part of the Vanderbilt University. Since the campus is gorgeous and is well taken care of, it is one of the better areas of the Nashville area.

There are a variety of different restaurants in the area that you can stop and eat in when looking to take a walk during the week as well as on weekends. With Vanderbilt University being close by, there are an overwhelming amount of college students who either live in the area or who work in the area.

The area is along a bus route which makes it great for looking to get around in downtown Nashville. Many of the buses will go to different areas of Nashville once you arrive at the bus station downtown and get on another bus to another area of Nashville. The area is great for visiting friends and hosting BBQ’s on weekends during the summer.

"Vibrant place to work and live"

Scarritt Peabody is an area nestled between Vanderbilt University, Music Row, and Demonbreun. Scarritt Bennett Center, previously Scarritt College, is a beautiful campus, and many weddings are held on the grounds. Peabody College is a part of Vanderbilt University.

Offices, apartments, and homes are sprinkled together in the neighborhood. Some new modern, trendy condo buildings have sprouted up in recent years, reflecting the increasing desirability of the area. Many restaurants are within walking distance, including South Street, Ken's Sushi, The Corner Pub, Noshville, and Miro District.

It is a great location, as downtown and West End are only a hop, skip and jump away. Definitely a fun place to work or live.
