"Nice street in Highland Park, plus there's the annual Fourth of July Parade!"

Winterton is a very small street, that feels very tucked away and backs right up to the Park. Currently, the residents seem to be a pretty even mix of seniors, "boomer" households, couples, and families with teens, tweens, and little ones. And friendly dogs. Very neighborly-feeling place -- home to a classic tiny annual parade on the the Fourth of July (everyone brings out kitchen pots and pans to bang on with spoons, kids decorate bikes with streams, and there's one drum and fourth-of-july song sheets).

Highland Park is a quiet neighborhood and this is a very quiet street - there is really no through traffic, although during the summer you will you occasionally hear noise from park events/parties or the police training center, located down on Washington Blvd. While there is not much to the business district in Highland Park, Winterton is just a short walk away from it (about 10 minutes, if that). There is a wonderful coffee shop/cafe (Tazzo's), along with two other restaurants, a bakery, and a small deli/market. You'll also find stops to 4-5 bus lines in this area, that will take you to either Oakland or Downtown. The 77D and the 74B both stop only 2-3 blocks away from Winterton. You are also only 2-3 minutes away from the Park.

As a whole, the Highland Park neighborhood is home to quite a few university faculty, UMPC staff, and graduate students and is a mix of residential homes and rental units.
