"Fun area, terrible traffic"

W. Mercer runs from Elliott Ave W. to Queen Anne Avenue. Actually, it's West Mercer Place between Elliott Ave W up the hill to 5th Ave. W., but most people just call it Mercer Street. The homes along the road are mostly apartments, and some have a fairly nice view of the water. Mostly the street is lined with shops and restaurants, with a relatively new shopping center on the corner of Mercer and Queen Anne Ave. Parking is next to impossible and traffic is significantly less than desirable. Being in such close proximity to Queen Anne, housing costs are pretty high, but the area does offer some of Seattle's best dining establishments, as well as easy access to two traditional Seattle restaurants: Dick's and Paggliacci's Pizzaria.

"Amazing Thai Food and a Reminder of Queen Anne's Past"

Get a few blocks away from the bustle of Seattle Center and you’ve got West Mercer Street. They’ve got the best Thai restaurant in town, just ask anyone. Tip Tum Thai can get very crowded on the weekends, so be prepared to order out. West Mercer also has a couple of dive bars left over from Lower Queen Anne’s more dangerous days. I don’t recommend going into any of them. There are also outlets for most major banks (Bank of America, WaMu, and a couple of others) in addition to a KFC for those with no will power and a love of chicken. Great place to live.
