Monomeath Ave

"Luxury and Mansions....oh my"

Monomeath Avenue is considered to be one of the best (if not the best) streets in all of Victoria. It's one of the most expensive streets, with mansions that are only rivaled by Toorak, Templestowe and Brighton.

The main attraction of Monomeath Avenue is that it ticks all the location boxes. Close to schools such as Xavier College and Trinity College, close to shopping on Burke Road and very close to public transport on Burke Road as well.

Another great aspect is that it's quite secluded. It's just far away enough from Burke Road, yet just close enough to be considered secluded. Drive down the street and you will see how visually appealing the street is as well, with a fantastic tree canopy overhead and wide roads sprawling the length of the street.

Finally, the icing on the top of the cake is having the parents of superstars Kylie and Danny Minogue living your street. That's right, when the Minogue's comes to town, this is where the family gets together.

Most people only dream of living in a street like this...and I don't think you need this review to tell you to live here if you can afford it.

Yes, we would all love to live next to Kylie's parents home. I wonder if you could peak over the fence?

Swanston Street Wk

"Dirty and disgusting...but good location"

I've lived here for a while, and although the location is great, nothing can excuse how filthy Swanston Street feels and looks at night time. Bums are always around the McDonalds and KFC and always give you dirty looks. While they don't want money, they just hang around. It's so frustrating because we live in such a beautiful city, and this area should be fantastic to live in and shop, and while it is a great area, it just feels soooo dirty.

Also, you look past the fact that late at night, this is where most people come to hang out and get food, and as everyone is drunk, it sometimes gets nasty with fights. Police are always in the street keeping watch.

On the flip side, the shopping is quite good, with access to Myer, David Jones, QV and Melbourne Central.

Great location, but dirty and disgusting. Not recommended for living here, but if you are staying at one of the hotels, then this location is hard to beat.

Richmond

"Location Location Location"

Richmond is about as good as it get when it comes to suburbs in Melbourne. It's perfect for young singles\couple who are looking to live in a suburb that has great shopping, good bars and is close to the city. Some people complain about some of the dodgier streets around the commission flats, but that's what makes Richmond so unique! It's not perfect, but if you are young and like the nightlife, with great tram access to the City, it's hard to beat Richmond.

Port Melbourne

"Beaches, bars, pubs and restaurants...there's nothing Port Melbourne doesn't have"

Port Melbourne has everything you could ask for in a place to live...bars, beaches, great restaurants and pubs. Shopping on Bay street is fantastic, Waterfront Place has some great amenities with IGA and a fitness gym (that's annoyingly busy on Monday-Wednesdays however), and Beach Street \ Beaconsfield Parade is one of the nicest strolls in all of Victoria on sunny weekend.

Look out though, as Port Melbourne can be quite expensive...but I guess you get what you pay for. If you are lucky enough, you'll have ocean views. My preference is for Rouse Street, or Johnston Street near Pickles Street...but overall you can't really go wrong anywhere in Port Melbourne.

Port Melbourne also suits all types, from young singles who love to party, to large families, to older people who like to take weekend strolls. It's also so close to city, and public transport is very closeby.

Great for

  • Fantastic Beach Lifestyle
  • Good Restaurants
  • Great Community
  • Great singles bars

Not great for

  • Very windy at times

Bridport Street West

"Doesn't look appealing, but undergoing street wide renovation, so might be good in a few years."

A very wide wide street, parking more that available. Lots of townhouses, yet a lot look pretty run down, which really brings down the visual appeal. One of the good things though is that some of the townhouses are being renovated, so one look out for in a few years.

Faussett Ln

"Perfect for families and young couples"

Faussett Lane runs just behind Bridport Street and is one of those streets that has the benefit of being secluded, yet being in the mix of it all!

Bridport street is a short stroll away and is great for coffees, food, boutique shops and restaurants. Trams are at your doorstep so the CBD is only 5 minutes away as well.

All the houses are mostly 1 story townhouses, and all well maintained. Very family friendly and great trees are overhead. Very hard to fault this street.

O'Grady St

"Familiy friendly and fantastic location."

O'Grady Street Albert Park is clearly one of the best streets in the suburb. Located just a short walk from Victoria Avenue and Richardson Street, this wide green tree laden street has a lot of great features that most would desire when looking for a new home.

First off, Victoria Street, which lends off to Bridport Street is amazing on the weekends for coffee's and cake, or even for dinner during the week. You can also catch a tram just down to the Beach during summer (or winter if you are game).

Second, the street is very wide and beautiful with great greenery and some fantastic two story townhouses.

Finally, there are always people on the street walking and it has a very neighborly feel to it. Most families would love it here. Take a drive down and you will see!

Highly recommended.

Dinsdale Street

"Cute street, great location."

Dinsdale Street Albert Park is a cost little street situated just a short stroll from the beach. Mostly brick townhouses lie here, some bigger than others. On street parking is always available, and the road has just been resurfaced!!!

Location is so good as well. St Kilda beach is just a short walk away, and there is also Bridport Street shopping just around the corner.

Page St

"I love this street - Page Street is amazing."

Page Street is one of the most spectacular streets in Albert Park. The beautiful double story townhouses, the amazing canopy of trees and gorgeous greenery, combined with happy people walking their dogs and prams during the day make this street one of the most desirable in all of Albert Park.

You also have direct access to Victoria Avenue shops, as well as being such a short drive from the Melbourne CBD AND beach on a short stroll away. Very hard to beat.

Esplanade East

"Esplanade E in Port Melbourne - Fantastic location...close to Edwards Park AND the Beach"

Esplanade E Port Melbourne is one of the best streets in the suburb, hands down. It runs the length of the suburb, from the beach all the way up to Ingles Street, South Melbourne and runs in an odd Zig-Zag fashion as can be seen by the map.

The best part about Esplanade E is it's proximity to Edward's Park, which has is lined with Palm Trees (I'll be uploading a bunch of pics soon). Right near the park are mostly townhouses, some of which have been renovated recently, but most will be redeveloped in the next 5-10 years.

This street also has a great family feel, with mums and dads always walking their dogs and prams on weekends. On street parking is not a problem at all, and it's close enough to Bay street, yet feels quite secluded.

You simply can't go wrong in Esplanade E, a must buy if you get the chance.

Nelson Rd

"One of the best"

Nelson Road is a very wide street and consists mostly of two story large townhouses. It's located in one of the best parts of Albert Park - very close to the city, albert park lake and St Vincent Gardens. It has a great family feel to it, and the location is hard to beat.

Pool Street

"Great location, but otherwise nothing spectacular."

Pool Street in Port Melbourne connects Bay Street and Princes St, and is currently undergoing some major renovations, which doesn't give the street a very family friendly feel to it.

Great location, but otherwise nothing spectacular.

Farrell Street

"Good location, but that's about it."

Leading just off Stokes Street is Farrell Street, a cute little street with a great location in Port Melbourne. Two minutes stroll to Bay St shopping and Restaurants Mostly weatherboard townhouses, on street parking, and very close to the tram lines. However Port Phillip Specialist school is here as well, and is always busy at school times, so make sure you check it out if you are thinking of buying here.

The houses also look pretty run down, and not very appealing in the slightest.

Overall, good location but not much else.

Farrell St 'West' situated near Williamstown road comprises many historically listed buildings which prohibit the front of the house from being altered. Usually they have extensive renovations to the rear of the property with quite a few being double storey. Which by regulation should not be seen from the front of the property.
Situated between Clarke Street and the park.

Liardet Street

"Location, parks, shops...it has everything."

Liardet Street is a very nice street compared some of the others in the area, and one of the more desired streets to live in especially if you are after something a little bit further away from the beach.

Bay street does separate the street somewhat in terms of desirability, but even on the bad side, its still pretty good. On the west side of BAy Street, the houses are still quite nice, and the location is great because you are so close to Bay St, but the best part is on the east side of bay street that connects right through to Richardson Street.

The main reason for this has to be the beautiful parks that are here: Edwards Park and Lagoon Reserve. Both are amazing with huge palm trees.

Buy here is you can, you wont regret it.

Botherambo Street

"Very odd name, ok location but that's about it."

Odd name to be sure and it's not doing the street any favors. Factories line it, as does graffiti! Ok location being in the heart of Richmond, but I personally would avoid this one.

Lennox Street

"Perfect for young couple and singles"

Perfect for young couples and single people, Lennox Street is fantastic. Location is so hard to beat, as you are right near Bridge Road, Swan Street and Chapel Street...all the major retail streets in the area.

My local drinking place is the London Terrace Pub and I highly recommend it on Friday nights. Parking is never an issue, and while there are speed bumps along the whole street, it stops the hoons in the area. Crime is a small issue, buts that's just Richmond and should not be a major deterrent.

Singles and young couples should seriously consider this street in Richmond.

I love the London Tavern too and go there regularly. There's also a delicious cheap and cheerful Indian food place on the south end of the street on the corner of Swan St.

Highett Street

"Location is fantastic"

Highett Street in Richmond is a main road, but don't let this deter you. The houses are set back on their blocks so noise isn't as much of an issue as you might expect. There is a great tree canopy overhead, and the location is fantastic being so close to Richmond Station, Bridge Road and Swan Street. There are commission flats here, but never seems to be too much of an issue, so overall, I would recommend Highett Street in Richmond.

St Vincent Place South

"A lifestyle we all should apisre to, one of the best in Albert Park."

How can you go wrong here? Well the answer is you can't. This is the golden mile of Albert Park, with mansions towering the street. Right on St Vincent Place S is St Vincent Gardens which obviously has a lot to do with the high appeal of the area. This is a stunning park with enormous palm trees and lush gardens. Walking here on a weekend will show you just how much of a family environment this area has as well.

Location can't get much better either. So close to the beach, the city and Albert Park lake, and public transport right at your front door on Montague Street.

If you can afford this street, then take the opportunity and live here...or at least take a stroll down St Vincent Place and visit St Vincent Gardens. STUNNING!!
