Totem Lake Boulevard North East has managed to maintain a good balance of retail, amenities, and residential. The shopping is not amazing, but it is great for when you need to grab a new phone charger or pick up some inexpensive household items. This are is special in that is has a Trader Joe's - a little known and nice surprise when you consider much of the surrounding area.
The amenities in the area can't be beat. Gas stations, hospital and doctor's officies, pharmacies, and several dry cleaners. There isn't a huge variety of restuarants, but the few family-oriented places are a good fit for the neighborhood.
Traffic congestion has eased up in the past two years thanks to construction and rerouting. There is easy access to I-405 and the intersection of NE 124th and 124th NE, which are both main roads in the Kirkland area.
