"Classic Eastbay Architecture"

North Claremont is one of those little hide away neighborhoods that no one ever hears about outside of the area, but that those who live in the area dream of moving to. North Claremont is the area to the east of College Ave to Tunnel Road that roughly forms a triangle. The homes just south of Tunnel Road are some of the most beautiful and expensive. Unlike much of Berkeley where streets have a mix of well-kept and run down homes, the homes in this area are invariably well-tended and all have a certain classic look to them, much as one can imagine they had back some forty years ago. Mission Style homes rest gently next to Prairie styles on mild slopes at the edges of the hills near the Claremont Resort.

The neighborhood is just close enough to College to make it desirable for those who work at the university (unlikely for students however, given the price range unless they are sharing some of the big older Victorians at the edges of the neighborhood). There is a Safeway for and some quaint bakeries and coffee shops in the area, but the streets within the neighborhood are mostly quiet.

With its two elementary schools and quiet ambience it is definitely one of the choice places to live in Berkeley.
