The really bad spot are around the Tenderloin and south of Market. The farther you get away from there the safer you tend to be.
Saint Francis Wood and that area are about as safe as it gets--and Sea Cliff of course. Wealth seems to insulate those neighborhoods from the most of the worst kind of crime.
