The "City That Never Sleeps"

You know the old slogan. You hear it constantly. Do you know why it is said. Because many people in this city hardly sleep. According to a study that was done recently, there are many people in this city who take sleeping pills. They have so much on their minds they can't get to sleep.

You talk to many people and they say they just wake up at 5:30am in the morning for no reason. Once awake, they can't get back to sleep.

But it's not just the Big Apple. Some sleep experts liken us to a nation of "walking zombies" because of the amount of rest we're not getting.

I bet Manhattanites are much more likely to take sleeping pills than Brooklynites. Maybe if the former were getting some as often as the latter, they wouldn't have a problem falling to sleep... :)

@NeverSleeps: I agree. I heard from a doctor recently that the most prescribed drug in NYC are sleeping pills. Go figure.

I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately . . .I think it's anxiety which seems like NY'ers tend to have more than most other places.

I was mostly joking up there... @JenMac I have that problem sometimes, usually due to a hectic work schedule... So it's not really surprising that your average New Yorker is taking sleeping pills - you've got to bring home the bread to make it around here.

@NeverSleeps: You got that right. To live in this overpriced city you have to work hard to make the money, or you won't be staying here long.
