Nude Scultures on Display

Like we haven't seen everything yet. Now we are going to see nude sculptures throughout the city.

To get an idea of what is happening and to see an actual sculpture, go here:

The artist is British. He is Antony Gormley.

@hhusted I did read about the sculptures but I havent really seen any of them. I need to keep my eyes open around midtown. Would love to see one of them, heard that they have been placed on building roofs and ledges and the NYPD and FDNY apparently have been warned to expect calls from concerned citizens who may think that these figures are real!!

@Uptowngirl: Yeah, I know. I am curious to see one, just to see what it looks like up, close, and personal.

In LA, several years ago, all of these naked angel statues went up all over the city. They were weird and cool but no one knew the what / why of them . . . so, we kept joking that they're probably bombs and we're all so dumb and complacent with new crap popping up that we didn't even know what was coming to us. Morbid thought of the day . . . but we were all fine.

I haven't seen any of these sculptures, but what they showed on the news didn't look too sexual. Hopefully little kids can deal with them.

If little kids can't deal with nude sculptures then we have really big problems.

Reminds of another recent exhibit at MOMA where artist Marina Abramovic had installed a display of live nudes which were prodded and poked by visitors.. forget kids even adults can't seem to handle nudes... http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/04/16/2010-04-16_moma_to_art_patrons_dont_touch_the_nude_people.html

@JenMac and @uptowngirl: I don't see any reason for why kids should see nude sculptures. If people are concerned about them seeing nude bodies, they will eventually discover it anyway, so why not let them see one when it's time.
