Crowded Sidewalks

For the first time in months, I actually went out today to take care of some legal matters. I had to go to Union Square area. There is one thing I noticed a lot of, and that is the sidewalks were very crowded. In a way this is good because it means people are out and about, buying and contributing to the wealth of this city, through the taxes they pay. But I hate crowds and do everything I can to avoid them.

Does anyone in this forum have any opinions about crowded sidewalks? Do you like them or hate them. Or do you just tolerate them?

How funny: do you only see people as an annual tax amount? I was out and about in Manhattan all day and genuinely took pleasure in seeing all the different people around me. That density is exciting and it's why I love the city. It's also why I enjoy living in a relatively quiet area of Brooklyn: so I don't have to face the crowds every single day.

@Uraniumfish I too love the crowds in NYC, people watching is one of my favorite past times. I live too in an area of Manhattan which is relatively quiet in terms of foot falls but it does have the FDR located close by but then citi windows takes care of that problem.

I don't mind crowds as long as they walk briskly or sort themselves out in "lanes." I love seeing people around! I hate "mobbed" areas, but an ordinary crowd is fantastic!

I hate crowds. Every time I get into a crowded area I begin to panic. My heart starts beating fast and I start sweating. I went to a psychologist years ago and was diagnosed with fear of crowds. Plus, I do not like looking at people. What is so fascinating looking at other people. Many of them are ugly looking. No thanks. I just want to go where I have to, buy what I need, and get back home.

Hah! In NYC so many of the people on the streets are gorgeous! @hhusted Given what you say, it seems strange that you would willingly choose to live in a metropolis like NYC and would have expected you'd end up in a small town somewhere.

What brought you to NYC, @hhusted? Not attacking you, just am honestly curious. You never seem to leave the house and hate the city. Why pay NYC's rents without enjoying its benefits?
