Gresham is not the safest place in Chicago and I would not call it safe. This may not be the roughest neighborhood in the world, but it's also not the safest.

There are several parts of the Gresham neighborhood that have a high crime rate compared with the rest of the city. Some of the outlying areas are pretty safe, with almost no crime to speak of. As long as you do some research, you can find a relatively safe area in Gresham.
