"Quiet, Old Neighborhood"

I must start this review off with a disclaimer; I've lived in this area for about a year and I really can't wait to get out. That being said, I'm sure there are some people who love this area.

My biggest complaint is the traffic: it sucks. I'd rather drive in Atlanta... at least there are more entertaining things to see there. Here it's just stoplight after stoplight with miles of people driving 5 under the speed limit. Recently I told a friend that I die a little each time I drive here; I'm not kidding.

As for the actual street, it's not a terrible place; the neighbors are friendly, it's clean, and it's pretty quiet (my roommates and I are probably the loudest people in the whole neighborhood).

Nightlife-wise, don't even ask. There's nothing to do here and the blue laws are worse than normal; bars stop serving at midnight on Saturday, and they're full of people you probably don't want to associate with or get drunk around. I have heard good things about Walt's, a new dive that just opened, but I haven't been there yet. Bottom line, if you want to do something you're gonna have to drive to Macon or for an even better time, Atlanta.

I guess there's decent shopping to be had... But I'm a guy so I'm happy with a trip to Best Buy and then back to hit up the internet for my actual purchases, so take that at face value.

One great thing about the area is the variety and amount of eating establishments. There's tons of places to eat and, strangely enough, a delightful selection of Asian restaurants to try out. Go figure.

We get pretty decent internet service from Cox. And cable TV, but I don't watch that... Hulu etc FTW :)

I suppose the value is decent, if you don't mind living near trailer parks. That's another one of my complaints; Centerville seems to have a huge number of trailer parks... and for the most part they look like absolute s***holes. There is one decent looking one on Houston Lake Rd, but other then that, it's simply embarrassing.

As for local goverment, I'm not terribly informed but as long as all the traffic issues and blue law crap remains in effect, they get low marks from me. Also, don't take my word on the child care / schools issue, since I don't have kids.

I hope this was helpful! If you're considering the area, I'd recommend driving around and checking it out first hand.
