"On the border of San Francisco and Daly City"

Crocker Amazon is a neighborhood you don’t hear about much. This is because it lies on the edge of San Francisco right next to the borderline of San Francisco/Daly City. I’ve only been in this neighborhood a few times as a friend of mine lives there. I would consider Crocker Amazon to be a secluded neighborhood as there’s nothing there aside from homes, homes, and more homes. However, for those who do like a secluded neighborhood, this could be the place for you. The homes here are of a decent size, most are quite large, however the prices may be a bit high as do most San Francisco homes carry. But I would say that this is an alright place to raise a family as it does have the quiet suburban feel to it. If you were to look for something to do in Crocker Amazon, you should head towards Mission Street and Geneva Avenue, as these are two of the busiest streets in the south side of San Francisco. You won’t find much as you would in the central area of San Francisco on these two streets, but it is at least something to do. MUNI stops are also easily accessible as they run on Mission Street and Geneva Avenue.

"A sleeper location in San Francisco"

Crocker Amazon is North of the San Bruno Mountain State Park near Daly City. You don't hear about this neighborhood too much and it often is overlooked. However, I think this part of town is worth reviewing, especially considering that the home prices can be lower in Crocker Amazon than in other parts of the city. In SF, that is a big deal!

Some people may find this neighborhood to be a bit inconveniently located to the highways, but public transportation options like the bus are readily available.

Most of the action in Crocker Amazon is on Mission Street. You can browse through different ethic stores and restaurants. This area of the city has a particularly high Filipino population. By the way, you very well may be walking in Jerry Garcia’s footprints since he grew up in Crocker Amazon.

Crocker Amazon’s large park reportedly used to be quite nice, but now it has gotten considerably run down. However, the park does have facilities for sports like basketball, tennis courts, and a large playground area. You can take a nice long walk through this area. And if you are in Crocker Amazon and have children, you definitely will have a good place to take them.

"On the Edge of Town"

This area is literally on the dividing line between Daly City and San Francisco. Having lived in Portola a few years and feeling like that area was a bit removed from the urban lifestyle I prefer in the metropolis of San Francisco, Crocker Amazon seems a bit like that for me. Where Portola offers easy access to the highways, Crocker Amazon does not.

On the other hand, Crocker Amazon has a bit more lively activity on Mission Street. While shops are plentiful on Mission and there is lots of hustle and bustle, traffic is equally challenging and congestion dominates the driving experience.

The area, though full of life, doesn't give a sense of lavishness. Instead, it's a practical spot with a sense of being both a part of the city and being out of the way and on the edge of town.

"In need of some sun?"

Crocker Amazon is rich with culture and morning fog. The fog breaks by afternoon and seasonal sun is great in this neighborhood.

It’s a nice long walk (2-3 miles) from BART to the park. Great exercise or enjoy the slow stroll, but it could take you awhile. The area is adjacent to Crocker Amazon Park and Playground. On the corner of Geneva Avenue and Moscow Street, the playground is a great area for kids. The playground has so much to offer, including a tot-lot with play equipment, a fantasy forest, community maintained butterfly garden, and a large open lawn.

A swanky neighborhood bar and restaurant, favored by locals, is the Broken Record – serving up “po boys” and whiskey at any hour of the day.

Crocker Amazon is a great place for families to enjoy a little sun in foggy San Francisco. The neighborhood is close to shopping on Mission Street as well.
