Safe areas to stay around Northeastern for 2 girls?

I am moving to Boston this fall and am looking for a place that is safe and easy to commute to Northeastern from. I am not particularly keen on living near loud rowdy undergraduates and my budget is flexible. Since my classes will easily run into 10 pm, i would like a place that is safe to come home to at around 11 pm. Any help will be much appreciated.
