You've got to ride the trolley, arts district, worth the time

Main Street – If it isn’t too hot, you can walk down Main, but we recommend the trolley. No cars are allowed and you can really enjoy getting off and browsing the cafes and museums the area. On Main, you will find yourself in the Historic Arts District. Check out the Orpheum Theater, statue of Elvis...

Quiet street, pretty houses.

This is a great place for families to live- not so great for those into night life, though. There is a great hospital down the street, the library and schools are well funded, there are parks GALORE, and it has a small town feel becuase it IS a small town. Oh, and about that hospital down the street...

Ypsilanti is a small city (population 22,000) immediately to the east of Ann Arbor and just west of metropolitan Detroit. For decades a manufacturing town, Ypsilanti today is increasingly becoming a creative and cultural center, particularly as Ann Arbor has become more expensive, making Ypsilanti's...

Gratiot Avenue-You should be running

Gratiot Ave stretches from Detroit to a few of its suburbs, and it is possibly the worst over-all stretch of road to grace Detroit. Pot-hole-laden, ugly, full of industrial decay, and generally unsafe--Gratiot is the road that no one sensible travels on after dark.

Assumption Grotto Church is on...

A really LOVELY street! Check it out!

This is a beautiful area. Anytime someone says that Detroit is an ugly city, tell them about Madison Street. There's an absolutely beautiful park right at the end of it, whic...

W Warren Ave is so much better.

This just shows the present nature of Detroit-how a safety and aestheticism can go from good to dangerous in a matter of blocks. East Warren Avenue is one of those roads that perpetuate the stereotype of "thug-life" Detroit--it is awful. While driving down East Warren, one can see abandoned buildin...

There are worse neighborhoods in Detroit, and there are better

My grandparents have lived on this street since my mother was very young, and they've watched this street plummet since the riots in the 70s.
The Fisher Theatre is probably one of the coolest things in Detroit--the historic building not only houses a theatre, but plenty of boutiques and stores.
Anytime I travel abroad, foreigners always ask if I've met Eminem because I used to live on 8 Mile.
And 8 Mile is the one that gets the bad name

In trite honesty, Cass Avenue is probably one of the worst stretches in Detroit. It's replete with abandoned buildings, slum-tenements, and crime-activity.
Close to the city but in the suburbs. Just five miles and you are accessible to all the restaurants, stores, etc. you'd want. Out end of the road is surrounded by fields of corn with racoons, pheasants, etc. running around. Great place to live!!
