Located about 2 miles northwest of the loop Chicago's East Village is a cool neighborhood filled with 100 year old houses and a eclectic mix of good resturants and hip shops that are popular with the young crowd. The East Village is bisected by W. Chicago Ave between N. Damen Ave and N. Ashland Ave. Resturant selections vary from comfort food to asian fusion. In addition, the East Village has a wide variety of hip upscale stores selling a wide variety of items from housewares to vintage clothing. Nighlife option include neighborhood bars a sports bar and even a hookah bar. Real estate is readily available in the East Village and consists of mainly brownstones and greystones most over 100 years old. Be prepared to pay a premium for these select properties.
