"Beautiful, but pricey"

Sequoyah Hills is one of the most scenic areas in the already very scenic city, sitting on the edge of the Tennessee river. Located towards the center of the city, just west of the campus area and a few miles west from the downtown area, Sequoyah Hills has some of the largest properties in town.
Unlike most of Knoxville, especially towards the center of the city, the homes are large and new. They almost all feature large yards as well.
It’s clear that many homes are custom-designed, as they feature unique set ups and the neighborhood doesn’t adhere to any one theme or style. Sitting well off of the busy Kingston Pike, the roads through Sequoyah Hills are well laid out and make for easy traffic flow.
The center of the area features a lengthy public part nestled against the river. Visitors of the park don’t interfere with the traffic flow of the area or make it feel over-congested.
Perhaps the most appealing aspect of Sequoyah Hills is its view of the river with rolling hills in the background, making these properties quite costly. As mentioned, most feature yards and many feature decks as well.
Most of the area isn’t gated or otherwise secluded, but remains a safe and quiet area occupied mostly by families or older couples. There are a few apartment complexes tucked back towards Kingston Pike, away from the river, which are occupied heavily by the younger crowd, but still aren’t popular places for the 20-something crowd to live.

"Sequoyah Hills: Knoxville's Flagship Neighborhood"

The Sequoyah Hills neighborhood is the best of the best in neighborhoods as far as Knoxville is concerned. In fact, it is oftentimes known as the flagship neighborhood and is one of the most prestigious and oldest residential areas available in Knoxville. It is connected to the Fort Loudon Lake and located in the central of this beautiful neighborhood is Cherokee Boulevard, which stays impeccably manicured year round. Cherokee Boulevard is one of the best well known places to walk and bike as well as for its accessibility to kayaking, canoeing, dog parks, and vast park area for best in relaxation for its residents within its 87 acres.

Sequoyah Hills was annexed in 1917 by the city of Knoxville, but throughout the ages this neighborhood has not lost any of its grandeur. The neighborhood is filled with a large variety of homes in different styles and sizes such as Italianate, Colonial Revival, Tudor, Craftsman and Ranchers, but they have have a whopping price tag attached to them. Sequoyah Hills gives the appearance that its residents have to qualify for its postal code as the homes here will have you gawking as you drive though. It is safely nestled in the southern part of the Tennessee River with the campus of the University of Tennessee to the northeast, and Kingston Pike to the west.

"Have It All"

This is quite possibly the best neighborhood in Knoxville. I lived here briefly, but want to move back. Living in Sequoyah Hills is like living in a park. From the moment you enter the neighborhood through the beautiful arch and drive down the tree lined road, you know it is going to be a beautiful area. Bordered on one side by Kingston Pike, which will take you anywhere you want to go, and the rest of the neighborhood is bordered by Lake Loudon. Paths and sidewalks throughout the neighborhood, large, beautiful trees everywhere, parks in the neighborhood, and homes to suit everyone, this is a great place to call home. There are always people and families out walking, biking, and playing, this is truly a friendly community. There are several beautiful fountains, Papoose Park, Sequoyah Park, Knoxville City Greenways, Catinella's or Blackbird Cafe, Sequoyah Library, churches for every denomination, and Sequoyah School, recently acknowledged as one of the best elementary schools in the state. Close to U.T. and downtown, and a short ride to the airport, Sequoyah Hills is close to everything, but you sure don't feel like you are living in a big town like Knoxville while you are lounging on the banks of the lake while the kids are playing in the park. The homes are fabulous. There are homes built in the 20's to homes built recently. There is nowhere else in Knoxville where you can find a beautiful home for 200,000 and across the street a home for 4 million and other homes at prices everywhere in between. Whether you want a beautiful home for a modest amount to an extravagant mansion with no expense spared, Sequoyah Hills is the place to have it.

"The connection between Downtown and West Knoxville"

Sequoyah Hills offers a lovely area that nestles into a bend of the Tennessee River. This area offers some wonderful, large houses and some beautiful churches. The neighbors here are a friendly group. The entire area is mostly hidden away from the main road of Kingston Pike. This stretch of Kingston Pike connects Downtown Knoxville and UT campus and West Knoxville. The drive through this area is unique to Knoxville. The drive does not have nearly any shops or restaurants. It offers a serene green laden drive with some beautiful homes. The unfortunate downside is that it is two lanes both ways, and can become congested during high traffic times.

The neighborhoods off of the main drive are rich and lush with history. Most of the streets are part of the Dogwood Drive, showcasing the homes and their lovely yards. Sequoyah Hills also features a secluded park, Sequoyah Park, right on the river. The restuarant and shopping selections are numerous, but require leaving the area. The close proximity to both of these major areas makes Sequoyah Hills a highly wanted area. Aside from the congestion, and the higher cost of living, this area is one of the most beautiful and well maintained areas of Knoxville.
