"Better than the surrounding areas"

For years, the Edgewood area has been under construction. It's adjacent to the already-run-down, already-confusing-set-up of the Fourth and Gill neighborhood, but just recently Edgewood seems to be sticking out.

It's a similar concept to the surrounding North Knoxville area, with many older-style homes, but as of recently there are also more modern homes in the area. It's biggest selling feature, however, has to be the nearby public park which is superior to the other parks in the area.

Furthermore, Edgewood is more secluded. The Fourth and Gill neighborhood still feels like it's just off a busy road (which it is) but Edgewood feels more like an actual neighborhood.

And given the low cost of living in the area, the Edgewood properties are generally a good deal. Given the high population of the younger (20s and 30s) crowd in the area, the Edgewood neighborhood might serve as a decent place for young couples or young professionals to buy a home, which is more common than renting (unlike the surrounding areas).

Although most of North Knoxville isn't in the best shape, Edgewood is starting to show some promise.

"Great place for a starter home"

Edgewood is a somewhat secluded area in Knoxville. It has undergone a lot of renovations in the last several years. This is a great area for couples to start their lives together with purchase of their first house. The renovations make the area nicer. Aside from the restoration of the neighborhood, the area has a park that makes it attractive. The neighborhood is in fairly close proximity to down town Knoxville, UT campus, and the Old City. These areas offer good restaurants, shopping and night life.

The neighborhood can also be a good choice for singles, or students wanting to go in together for a house. The traffic in the neighborhood is not bad, but the streets surrounding the area may get congested during rush hour. The schools in the area are generally regarded on the lower end of the spectrum. With recent renovations to the area, school improvements have been undertaken as well. Overall, this area offers a peaceful niche near downtown Knoxville. It is a a place undergoing tremendous renovations to restore the houses, and a great place to buy your first house.

"Edgewood: An Attractive Packed Full Of Potential And Residents Who Care"

The Edgewood neighborhood is one of the most attractive neighborhoods in Knoxville simply because it is full of potential. Edgewood Park, which is located in the heart of the neighborhood comes complete with all the amenities including playground, shady benches, huge lawn, gazebo, and tennis courts. The neighborhood itself is a walkable community consisting of moderately priced homes and apartments with beautiful greenery and many sidewalks.

The Edgewood neighborhood began back in the early 1900s, but today, Fords, Chevys, and Toyotas have replaced the old streetcars that once ran through this beautiful neighborhood. This neighborhood desperately tries to hold on to its history as best it can by restoring the homes here instead of having them torn down and rebuilt. The residents here strive for preservation through zoning amendments within the neighborhood itself.

The residents are highly active in their neighborhood and want to see it restored to its once beautiful state. Some of the newer homes being built within this neighborhood look like monsters compared to beautiful historical homes. Watching these homes being restored to their former state is pure pleasure for anyone who lives in the area and simply amazing to view in the finished state.

They were true treasures of their time. However, once the homes are restored and renovated they do tend to be quite costly, but they also helps to bring in a better class of neighbors as well. The neighborhood is still lush with beautiful trees decades old. Some of the finer attractions are Caswell Park and Edgewood Park. The traffic in the area is fairly light and Knoxville's finest are always around to be sure the speed limits are kept to protect children and walkers.

"Up and coming neighborhood"

Edgewood is full of potential. There are some amazing historic homes that have been restored to their former glory and there are some waiting to be loved and made into something amazing. Renovated houses can be pricey, but still affordable and homes that still need renovating are very affordable. Green lawns and large trees abound in this historic neighborhood. A very nice neighborhood, Caswell park is centrally located and the Knoxville Municipal Stadium is conveniently located. There is a community fitness center, swimming pool, and playground that gets the entire neighborhood out. Edgewood is a short drive to great dining, shopping and hot spots. While the neighborhood is close to downtown, traffic is fairly light and parking is not a problem. Some children play in the streets and front lawns, so driving speeds need to be watched. Night time can be a little aggravating with dogs heard barking, and daytime can be a bit loud at times with some homes undergoing renovations, but other than those distractions, this neighborhood is typically quiet. Your nights can be spent on the front porch overlooking the city lights sipping your favorite drink.
