Yorkville, New York City crime - do the locals think there is alot of crime in the neighborhood?

There's crime everywhere in Manhattan, but I wouldn't call Yorkville particularly crime ridden. There's not as much to do in the way of nightlife in the neighborhood, though. The neighborhood is, largely, upper middle class aside from the school housing areas. So, it's a nice place to live but I always tend to think that when you live in an area wherein the streets are dead at night, then you need to be a little more careful about your surroundings.
