There were many complaints about students living in Yorktown. In 2011, City Council put a limit on student housing in Yorktown. The "Yorktown Overlay", an ordinance the city council adopted in 2004 to prohibit student apartments in the neighborhood, was deemed to be valid in the proceedings. However, zoning law made exceptions for property owners who live in their homes while renting rooms to student.
In non-technical terms, if you live in the residence, renting is okay, but if you do not, I believe that renting is not okay in Yorktown.
