Ward Parkway, Kansas City

Most KC residents would call this area Waldo. Waldo is a pretty cool area. The homes, for the most part, are not all that exciting... though there are a few really great places to live. That's not to say that they are bad but, compared to nearby Brookside and some of the other expensive neighborhoods in the vicinity, Waldo isn't quite as polished. That said, shopping, eating and just generally living well is pretty easy in Waldo. With a bike and a little perseverance, you probably wouldn't need to leave Waldo. The Waldo shopping area has some really great restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. In fact, Waldo Pizza has some of the best slices in the city. There are also some cool boutiques and, if you're into thrifting, there are lots of neat thrift stores on Wornall. The traffic can be a little bit of a pain, especially on Wornall but you are pretty well located and can use Ward Parkway to get to other parts of the city, or highways, pretty easily. I actually really enjoy just driving through this area. There are some beautiful parks and running trails as well. Crime seems to occur fairly randomly in the area and I have never hesitated to walk in Waldo at night. All in all, Waldo is a fun place to live... I highly recommend it.
