Chestnut Hill Road runs from route 44 in the village of Chepachet, Rhode Island, to Old Snake Hill Road. As it winds away from the village, the atmosphere is increasingly rural. Trees form canopies over the road in many places, and stone fences and wooded land is common. Many houses stand far from the road, hidden by the forest, increasing the sense of a rural place.

The road passes the Smith and Sayles Reservoir and the Shingle Mill Pond, and crosses Saunders Brook.

There is a wide variety of homes on Chestnut Hill Road, ranging from tidy antique little Capes to larger contemporary houses. There are never many homes for sale on this road at one time. There are still some lots available for building.

This is, generally speaking, a very quiet street. Except for the transfer station and the town garage near the village, there are no commercial buildings on the road. Many people who live here commute to Providence and the surrounding area. Shopping is just a few minutes away, with Dino's supermarket, a CVS pharmacy, post office, a gas station, excellent pizza place, a doctor's office, a library, and the town hall located in Chepachet village.

It is in a bit of a snow belt. The town does a generally good job of plowing and sanding, especially considering there are many miles of road to care for in thei town. Chestnut Hill Road is in very good condition, much of it having been completely dug up, regraded, and resurfaced several years ago.

I've lived here for 25 years, and found it an excellent place to bring up children - the Glocester schools are excellent! - and happily anticipate retiring here.
