safety at Florida Ave and North Capital Street NW

Hey Everyone, I'm looking to move to an apartment that's basically on the corner of Florida Avenue NW and North Capital Street. I know that area has some rough spots and there have been a couple shootings there as recently as Memorial Day weekend, but in general, is that area pretty safe? Just want to get a sense of what to expect if I decide to move there. Thanks!
